CombiScope™ 1000

The CombiScope 1000 Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) is an advanced research instrument that provides the entry path for researchers in biology, spectroscopy and photonics. If you work with transparent samples either in air or in liquid towards nano-scale structures and (near-field) nano-optical properties investigation, the CombiScope 1000 is the right solution for you. It perfectly combines inverted optical and atomic force microscopies and unleash all the power of both techniques providing the instrument adjustment and measurement automation, high resolution and high speed only available from AIST-NT. Plus it can be easily upgraded to our OmegaScope AFM-Raman system.

One more “Eye” to look

  • The AIST-NT CombiScope 1000 is designed to combine Scanning Probe Microscopy with inverted optics. The Combiscope is the entry path for researchers in biology, spectroscopy and photonics, who work with transparent samples either in air or in liquid, towards nano-scale structures and (near-field) nano-optical properties. Specially for this group of users, the concept of automation is of crucial importance.

Stable Focus-Tip alignment

  • The added value for combining SPM with optics in general is that the very same spot of the sample is evaluated simultaneously by the focused optics and the SPM tip. The only real stable alignment during the full time of the analysis is achieved only then when both tip and focus don’t move at all. Therefore any solution where either of both are part of the surface tracking process is failing this criteria. Though for alignment purposes both tip and focus can be positioned through motorized control, in the AIST-NT solution only the sample is scanning. As such the sample is scanned ideally through the perfectly aligned Tip-Focus spot.

Open access & Head Placement/Removal

  • With the AIST-NT CombiScope 1000 one enjoys the convenience of the over-all AIST-NT SPM automation. With a click of a button the SPM head parks away from the entire sample area and opens up space for free and easy sample replacement or modification. This last piece of automation makes the system Glove Box Compatible. Together with a set of prepared cantilever holders that can be replaced while wearing the rubber gloves, one can operate the CombiScope 1000 in any controlled gas or bacteriological closed environment.

Medicine and pharmacy

  • The CombiScope 1000 brings nano-scale screening to medical and pharmacy laboratories. For the first time in history early diagnosis can be based on nano-scale disease recognition. The complete instrument automation brings back the job to simple sample exchange. Special sample holders with pre-alignment facilities can be delivered on customers specification.

Confocal coupling

  • The open architecture of the CombiScope 1000 opens up the path to couple with high-speed confocal systems of well known vendors. Like with the Nikon Eclipse C1 Plus modular confocal system with superior scan head optics, faster image acquisition capabilities and improved control over illumination intensity.
